Usborne Books & More

Do you love to read?

Do you want to instill that love of reading into your children?

How do you go about finding good, exciting books for them?

If you have not heard of Usborne, I am happy to introduce you to them.  I discovered them through a Facebook party invitation over a year ago and consider myself an "Usborne Junkie."  As a parent I am a big fan of these books which makes sharing the love of reading to my son so much fun.

They have books for babies that are fabric books.  They have board books, dual readers, series books and so much more.  I'll introduce the Lift and Look series in this post and The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales in this post because my son has enjoyed both of those tremendously.

The Lift and Look series are books with thick pages where each book has a different focus such as trains, tractors, dinosaurs and under the sea.  The book has flaps which are great to engage young readers like my son.  In each book there is an character to find such as a blue bird in the plane book and a teddy bear in the train book.  The books are bright, durable and a great first exposure to some basic subjects.

The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales is a delightful series and it is a dual reader.  Each story starts off "This is Apple Tree Farm.  This is Mrs. Boot the farmer.  She has two children called Poppy and Sam and a dog called Rusty."  The stories cover a wide variety of adventures on the farm from entertaining campers and a hot air balloon, to dealing with a fire and missing farm animals.  There are also a number of stories about the town train.

Since it is a dual reader, a child who is learning to read would read just the top line of each page.  The lines on the bottom part of each page are meant for the parent to read or it can be left unread if the child is reading independently.  One perk of this book is that there are sooo many stories.  My son is at the stage where he loves to read stories over and over again.  I appreciate having a variety of stories so that I can enjoy reading with him and not get bored with reading one or two stories over and over again.  This book also comes with its own CD so your child could listen and follow along independently.

Up until recently The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales was the one my son would choose to read before each nap time and each night before going to bed.  He still enjoys choosing it and reading the stories along with many other books as well.

Since we love these books so much and I value the importance of literacy and family time not just for my children but for others as well I just became an Usborne Books and More consultant.  It will be the best job because these books are the best product.  Everyone needs books - especially young children who need to learn to read and foster a love of reading and learning.  Here is a link to check out these awesome books: https://a6273.myubam.com/search?q=lift+and+look
