Over the last month my house has been the picture perfect house of sharing.
First I was sick, then my husband was sick. Our kids got sick and passed it back to my husband. I thought I was out of the woods, but it looks like I am the beginning and the end of this circle. At least I hope I am the end.
I know a lot of friends who have been going through similar situations lately. It is miserable for all of us. Some of us have to go to work like my husband. Some of us have to take care of our kids despite our misery (me).
My daughter, maybe due to her round of sickness, has been waking up even more at night and thus giving me less sleep than ever which is probably why I succumbed to sickness again. She's up at least every 3 hours. I get about two hours of sleep at a time. I feel like a walking zombie today. Not sure how I'll ever get better if I can't get more solid/consecutive hours of sleep.
For all you fellow parents out there - I'm with you in the thick of it. I hope you all either have manged to avoid it or if you have it can get rid of it soon! I'm hoping, somehow to end this and not pass it on to anyone else.
What are your go to items when you are sick? We do a little bit of "everything" from echinacea and olive leaf to essential oils (when I remember to use them as I am still new to using them) and so on.
The two things that are the hardest for me when I feel like this, with the rough throat which is my least favorite symptom, are reading and singing to my kids. We love reading (me reading aloud) every day and at the minimum we read two stories before my son's nap and two before his bedtime each day and even just doing that hurts and makes me cough and wince. I look forward to being better again so I can do these fun every day bonding activities.
Singing off...or not, cough-cough-cough

P.S. Read along CDs are saving me right now.
