Entertrainment Junction

Last week my family took a trip to somewhere new.  My son LOVES trains, so we took him to Entertrainment Junction.  You read that right.  EnterTRAINment.  It's amazing how much a two year old can express his likes and dislikes and affect what you choose to do as a family.  It's nice that my husband and I also enjoy trains.

From their website: "Billed as the the world's only railroad-themed family entertainment center, EnterTRAINment Junction offers the largest indoor train display at 25,000 square feet with more than two miles of track and 90 trains depicting every era of American railroading. Kids can bounce, climb and crawl through 'Imagination Junction,' a 5,000-square-foot play area."

It had buttons throughout the indoor train display so that you could make trains move, cranes move, a ski lift move and more.  It was a nice interactive touch for kids (and adults!).  I'm not sure I agree with "only railroad themed family entertainment center" though it could be based on semantics.

We have enjoyed going to the Cincinnati History Museum which has a Cincinnati in Motion exhibit where we could roll "through the history of Cincinnati with the nation's largest full-motion urban layout. Cincinnati in Motion is a model of the city of Cincinnati from 1900 through the 1940s with working trains, streetcars and inclines, as well as interactive computer stations that bring Cincinnati's history to life." as stated by the museum website.  You can even get inside of an old bus and train if memory serves me.

We have even been to the California Train Museum where we enjoyed riding on a real steam train with our son and other family on the tracks near/outside the museum building.  In that museum there are all kinds of historical retired trains to go into and see what they were like inside.

So how does Entertrainment Junction compare?  We really enjoyed it and plan to go again soon!  It currently has a Thomas the Train theme scavenger hunt, a mini train (and I mean mini as my husband was over the weight limit to ride) for kids to ride and it has a lot of play areas including Thomas the Train type wooden tracks and trains set up for kids to play with.

What do(es) your kid(s) love?  Have you found an awesome place to take them where you can bring it to life and have a day of family fun?  Share in the comments!  I'd love to hear about your adventures.

Singing off...Do do do do do do do (Thomas the Train theme song tune)
