KY Ark Encounter

When reading Genesis chapter 5:5-8 it is clear that due to the wickedness of man God determined to destroy man and beast from the face of the earth, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  Reading on from there God gave Noah specific instructions to build an ark and prepare it for his family and the animals that God would send into the ark so they would survive the flood.  Verse 22 states "Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did."

In a world that had turned away from God - much like the world today - Noah listened and obeyed God's command; in doing so God spared not only his family and the living creatures that God sent into the ark but all of humanity and all living creatures that have come from them.  We are all descendants of Noah.

The focal point of the Ark Encounter is a life sized replica of Noah's ark for visitors to enter and explore.  There are cages/crates to give examples of how animals could have been stored and cared for - fed and watered and even waste removal explanations.  There were pots and bags and various storage areas to show how food and water and necessary items could have been stored.

There are numerous exhibits within the ark to show how the ark would have functioned, such as how it was ventilated and how it survived the flood.  There were model animals in cages as examples and model people to represent Noah and his family working within the ark to take care of all of the animals.  It really struck me just how BUSY they all would have been constantly feeding and caring for all of the animals!  The time on the ark would have passed rather quickly.

Other exhibits were focused on explaining specific Biblical passages, including creation, Adam and Eve and other pre-flood history as well as those Biblical Scriptures about Noah and the flood.

Many exhibits showed comparisons of the creation/Bible world view and evolution.  My two year old son's favorite exhibit involved compared the real Biblical flood against legends/stories of floods from around the world.  He loved watching a video in that exhibit which showed the various vessels from flood legends crashing and how Noah's ark would survive a real flood.

My family really enjoyed the Ark Encounter.  We are a Bible believing family and it is amazing to have somewhere to go to help bring a Biblical account to life - especially for a two year old.  Being outside of and going inside of a large ark structure and not just seeing a small toy ark or a picture on a page in a Bible story really helped to drive home the immense effort Noah and his family took to build the ark and the loving mercy of God.

If you want an incredible experience for yourself and your family that supports the truth of the Bible and what God has done for mankind and continues to do, I recommend visiting the Ark Encounter.
